Mariposa's First Birthday

A year ago today, instead of heading to a court appearance, I headed to Cherry Creek and bought a building!

When I began my solo practice, I was grateful to find office space in a building with other criminal defense attorneys and professionals. I missed the camaraderie of the public defenders office. First week on the job, a baby attorney, I remember overhearing a fired up felony attorney returning to the office after court. She was animated, outraged, and ready for more. I thought to myself, "I want to be just like her!" Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her passion to fight for her client was inspiring. I draw support from my colleagues, insight from co-workers, and find motivation to fight even harder for my clients, when I'm shoulder to shoulder with others.

I love what I do, and I am so excited to be able to provide a space where others can do the work of criminal defense in community. I want to work in a place where I get to overhear impassioned attorneys talking about their latest battle in court, attorneys asking to workshop a jury selection idea, social workers sharing ideas to get records and rides to DOC, investigators offering help to serve that subpoena. Selfishly, I'm a better attorney, when there is someone down the hall I can ask a quick question or vent about a crazy ruling. Defeats are a little less painful and victories are sweeter when we share in this hard work together.

Today, I am celebrating Mariposa's birthday! With a dream, stubbornness, hard work, and good people on my side, I purchased this building. It was previously named Mariposa Property, and on May 25, 2017, it became Mariposa Law Offices. I have proudly created an office that is uniquely tailored for the needs of the criminal defense community - a community I love, and love being part of.

Thank you Melissa Garscin, Maggie Baker, and Anne Parker for being our first ever tenants, and thank you to all those who will be joining us on this ride! 📷♥️ We are so thankful for you and hope to serve you and your practices well for years to come!
